Public Information Meeting on September 17 at 6:30 pm: New Park Avenue Complete Streets Improvements Project

A Public Information Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 6:30 pm to explain the New Park Avenue Complete Streets Improvements Project
The Town of West Hartford is planning a complete streets improvement project for New Park Avenue between New Britain Avenue and north of Oakwood Avenue. Design of the project is ongoing and the project is slated to start construction in 2025.
The Town of West Hartford, in conjunction with its design consultant, VHB, will hold a public informational meeting to explain the project and receive comments on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium of the Elmwood Community Center, 1106 New Britain Avenue, Elmwood, CT. Feedback from the community is an invaluable part of any project and is greatly appreciated.
The project calls for the construction of numerous complete streets improvements including a separated two-way bicycle facility, a two-way left-turn lane, raised landscape medians, enhanced crosswalks, and improved connections to CTfastrak and Trout Brook Trail.  Additionally, the roadway will be resurfaced and traffic signals will be upgraded. Located in the heart of the evolving New Park Avenue corridor, this project will improve safety and mobility while supporting Transit Oriented Development and fulfilling the town’s Complete Streets Policy.
Based upon semi-final design, construction costs for the project are estimated to be $6,000,000 with State funds providing $3,700,000 of those costs, and the Town of West Hartford providing the remaining $2,300,000.
