Closings & Trash Delay due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday

Municipal offices, senior centers, the community center, recreation facilities, libraries, and the Yard Waste & Recycling Center will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 28, 2024. West Hartford Public Schools are closed on Thursday and Friday.
 
West Hartford Reservoir, located at 1420 Farmington Avenue, and Reservoir #6, located off Route 44/Albany Avenue in West Hartford, will be closed on Thanksgiving.
Trash, Recycling, and Leaf Pick-up Delay:
 
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, trash, “A” week recycle, leaf bag, and bulky/metal collections will be delayed one day after the holiday. The normal Thursday collection will be done on Friday, November 29, 2024, and Friday’s collection will be done on Saturday, November 30, 2024. No other collection days are affected during this holiday week or the following week. If you have any questions, please check Paine Inc.’s website, www.painesinc.com, or call them at (860) 844-3000.
 
Library hours on Nov. 27:
All three libraries will close at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, November 27.
 
Friday closings – November 29
The following facilities will also be closed on Friday, November 29:
·     Elmwood Senior Center
·     Elmwood Community Center
·     Bishops Corner Senior Center
·     West Hartford Public Schools administrative offices
 
Friday openings – November 29
On Friday, November 29, the following facilities will be open:
·     Noah Webster Library, 20 South Main Street, 10 AM-5 PM; Bishops Corner and Faxon libraries are open 10 AM-2 PM
·     Town Hall, 50 South Main Street, 8:30 AM-4:30 PM
·     Yard Waste & Recycling Center, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM, and on Saturday, 7 AM-12 PM
·     Recreation facilities, including the Skating RinkWestmoor Park, and Cornerstone Aquatics Center, will be open. Visit their websites for hours of operation.
