Hall High School, in partnership with the Elevate WeHa initiative, invites students, families, community members, and local leaders to attend a special mural dedication ceremony on Friday, May 30 from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM in the Hall High School courtyard.
This celebratory event will honor the powerful work of Hall High student leaders who participated in the Elevate WeHa Creative Leadership Program—a collaborative, arts-based initiative led by The RiseUP Group and West Hartford Prevention Partnership. Over several weeks, students worked alongside professional artists and community mentors to design and paint a large-scale public mural that reflects their values, identities, and vision for unity and wellness in their school and community.
The dedication ceremony will include:
-
Remarks from student leaders about the impact of the program
-
A ribbon cutting to reveal the completed mural
-
Music, refreshments, and light food
-
Recognition of program partners and supporters
The event will also spotlight the collaboration with the CT Center for Nonviolence, whose leadership workshops based on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Kingian Nonviolence principles played a foundational role in shaping the students’ creative vision and message.
Elevate WeHa is a youth wellness and prevention initiative that combines public art, service, and leadership opportunities for teens in West Hartford. Following the success at Hall High, the program will expand to Conard High School in the coming weeks.
We invite the press, local organizations, and West Hartford residents to join us in celebrating the voices of our youth and the power of public art to inspire change.
